Mary TOPE, daughter of Frederick TOPE and Elizabeth Ann GRAMMER, was born about 1799 in Jackson Co., Illinois, and died about 1865. She married Andrew PENROD in 1815 in Jackson Co., Ohio. Mary was known as "Polly." Andrew was born in 1795 in Quemahoning, Somerset Co., Pennsylvania, and died August 1848.

Their children:

1. Elezer PENROD was born 20 February 1828 in Panama, Illinois and died 14 October 1890 in Jackson Co., Illinois. He married Sarah Emeline BUTTLER on 15 February 1849 in Carbondale. Illinois. Sarah was born to Cyrus BUTTLER and Nancy ______ [see note].
2. Barbara PENROD was born in 1830 and died about 1850  He married Henry MITCHELL on 1 April 1847.
3. Susan PENROD was born 1818 and married William MOORE.
4. Margaret PENROD was born about 1820 married Lafayette Murphy 23 July 1843 in Jackson County, Illinois.
5. John PENROD born 1826 in Kentucky.  He married Christine Catherine BAKER on 1 February 1846 and  married/2 Julia Ann LIPE.
6. Andrew Jackson Jr. PENROD was born in 1832 and married Nancy KNIGHT on 13 October 1856.
7. George Washington PENROD was born in 1834 in Illinois and died 10 February 1916. He married Elizabeth BUTLER
8. James PENROD was born in 1836 in Jackson Co., Illinois and died 17May 1871. He first married Elizabeth CRAIG 19 July 1859 in Jackson County, Illinois second married Julia Ann (BUTLER) FOSTER.
